Quick Connect (QC) quick change system:
The filter housing (from the QC cover downwards) is removed from the permanently installed QC head by turning it to "open". The filter is then changed separately in the sink. The filter housing is reinstalled by pushing it in axially and turning it to "close".
The device is installed as a branch off the cold water pipe (after the angle valve). Since only part of the water is filtered and taken separately, this extends the service life of the filter cartridge.
